LaaSer Critical Communications Announces Year-Long Pilot Program With ChatComm to Demonstrate Lifesaving 911 Caller Location Technology

ATLANTA, June 5, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Over the next year, LaaSer Critical Communications (http://laaser911.com/) will be working together with IXP (http://www.ixpcorp.com/) and the Chattahoochee River 911 Authority, or ChatComm, to deliver enhanced services at the four Atlanta area municipalities served by ChatComm. These are the first of approximately 30 public safety answering points (PSAPs) that will be part of the nationwide pilot. LaaSer's platform enables immediate, accurate location of mobile phone users, which has become an increasingly serious challenge, as well as providing any supplemental data like emergency contact information, medical conditions and other pertinent details.

"As we continue to work with our partners to enable these capabilities for mobile carriers," says LaaSer CEO Fred White, "we're embarking on this pilot program to show how effective those capabilities are in the real world. And of course, we're helping to make a positive impact on people's lives. Our goal remains to work with mobile carriers and technology partners to enable this functionality across the entire country for everyone."

The current pilot program is made possible via LaaSer's continuing partnership with West's Safety Services, which includes the VIPER® call handling solution that allows PSAPs to receive Next Generation 911 services such as location, TXT29-1-1® and other i3 compliant data. An essential benefit of LaaSer's comprehensive answer to PSAP efficiency is its seamless integration with legacy hardware and software; in other words, the user experience for both callers and operators is unaffected.

"One of our major goals is to provide quality service with faster response times utilizing state-of-the-art technology and Next Generation service enhancements," remarked Kelli Beaman, Director ChatComm. "LaaSer will allow us to better handle wireless callers through their patented technology, providing enhanced accuracy to determine a wireless caller's precise location. Knowing the exact location of a wireless caller provides improved response times reducing errors associated with locating the caller or the party in need of assistance."

Local emergency responders have been equally enthusiastic: "When we saw the timeliness and accuracy of the LaaSer solution, we realized this would be a game changer for public safety," adds Gary Yandura, Brookhaven Chief of Police. "We know that in today's world we have to wait for location to be provided. But now with LaaSer, we can be on the way much faster, which means a better chance to save people's lives."

LaaSer has tackled the problem of outdated 911 technology with a forward-thinking solution using the built-in technologies of mobile phones. Response times could be measurably improved for most of the 168 million 911 calls placed from mobile phones each year. And, according to the FCC, an average response time improvement of just one minute could save 10,000 lives annually. LaaSer is poised to deliver that improvement today.
