IAITAM Donates Technology to Lotts Creek Community School in Appalachia

CANTON, Ohio, Aug. 7, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The International Association of Information Technology Asset Managers (IAITAM) is filling a moving truck so that the Lotts Creek Community School, a hard-hit rural school district in Kentucky, will receive over $125,000 of equipment including 250 computers and several electronic "smart" whiteboards.

IAITAM has a long history of supporting communities around the world. The corporate social responsibility platform of IAITAM has focused on building and supporting collaborative programs that create positive outcomes for people, communities and the world around it.

Dr. Barbara Rembiesa, CEO and President of IAITAM, recently heard the success story of a rural local school district in Kentucky that inspired the team to lend a hand. Through the support of IAITAM members and corporate partners, IAITAM has collected, packaged and delivered hundreds of computers and ancillary equipment to donate to this stimulating program. Despite extremely limited resources, the Lotts Creek Community School (www.lottscreek.org) serves the remote Knott County community of Cordia with an emphasis on producing scholars. This school sends three-fourths of its high school graduates to college or other advanced training, armed with scholarship assistance available to all graduates. In 2006, all of the senior class went on to pursue higher education - impressive for any school.

"The scholastic achievements of the Lotts Creek Community School are inspirational given the dire economic circumstances in the Appalachian region," said Dr. Rembiesa. "The world of IAITAM is about tech and we are very pleased to be able to give something back to such a deserving program."

As well as providing an excellent preparation for college, teachers also encourage students to be engaged in the community. While advanced education is of utmost importance basic needs must be addressed first. The school provides many services for the community including housing repairs, clothing, a food bank, and a medical assistance and wellness program at no cost to eligible members of the community.

The IAITAM team is thrilled to join forces with its major contributor ARCOA ITAD as well as contributions from All Green Electronics Recycling, Dynamic Recycling, Guardian Data Destruction, and also Sage Sustainable Electronics donated technology through the generosity of their clients, to provide much needed technology to the school. IAITAM is also grateful to Jeff Datkuliak of ARCOA ITAD for coming in from Chicago, Illinois to assist the team.

"I am so proud of our members and our team who are working together on an act of kindness that has the potential to change lives," said Dr. Rembiesa. "We hope the students at Lotts Creek Community School will put this technology to good use."
