Utah Vet Elected National Vice Commander of The American Legion

A career U.S. Army soldier and member of Farmington, Utah American Legion Post 27 was elected national vice commander of the two-million member veteran’s organization during its national convention in Reno, Nev., today.

Paula Stephenson served on active-duty for 22 years and another decade in the U.S. Army Reserve. She was commissioned in 1977, the first year women were able to receive commissions through the Army ROTC program at the University of Connecticut. She was the first woman to be department (state) commander for the Utah American Legion. She is also the vice president of The American Legion Boys State of Utah program. Stephenson is married to Charles Stephenson, a former Utah department commander. She enjoys traveling with her husband and golf.

Stephenson is one of 12 national officers in The American Legion.
