PPG Completes COLORFUL COMMUNITIES Project at Funston Elementary School in Chicago

PPG (NYSE:PPG) today announced the completion of a COLORFUL COMMUNITIES™ project that helped revitalize classrooms at Funston Elementary School in Chicago. The Colorful Communities program provides PPG volunteers and products along with financial contributions to bring color and vitality to communities where the company operates around the world. In the Greater Chicago Area, PPG operates an architectural coatings plant in Batavia, distribution center in Aurora and eight PPG PAINTS™ stores.

PPG partnered with Chicago Cares on the project, which brought together nearly 30 PPG employee volunteers and family members to brighten several interior rooms at the school. The volunteers, including a number of PPG executives, spent the day painting several classrooms, a teachers’ lounge and murals near the gymnasium entrance to help welcome students and staff back to school. PPG provided nearly $10,000 to assist with the project, including 22 gallons of PPG Paints SPEEDHIDE® Zero paint and other products.

Funston Elementary School is located in the Logan Square area of Chicago, a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood.

“The school has extremely dedicated and highly qualified teachers who value their students and customize instruction to the students’ needs,” said Sue Sloan, PPG executive director, corporate global social responsibility. “We are pleased to work with Chicago Cares and the Funston Elementary School’s administration on this worthwhile project, which will provide a bright start to the school year for many community children.”

The Colorful Communities program is PPG’s signature initiative for community engagement efforts, with the aim to protect and beautify the neighborhoods where PPG operates around the world. The program increases PPG’s commitment to invest in communities and supports projects that transform community spaces, providing PPG volunteers and donated PPG products. In 2015 and 2016 combined, PPG completed nearly 60 Colorful Communities projects, and it expects to complete about 75 more this year.

PPG and the PPG Foundation aim to bring color and brightness to PPG communities around the world.
