Department of Energy Awards Leidos Prime Energy Information Administration Contract

RESTON, Va., Oct. 3, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Leidos (NYSE: LDOS), a FORTUNE 500(®) science and technology company, was awarded a prime task order contract by the Department of Energy's (DOE) Energy Information Administration (EIA), under the Leidos EOP IV IDIQ support contract, to provide comprehensive performance solutions for the 2018 Commercial Buildings Energy Consumption Survey (CBECS) and 2018 Commercial Buildings Energy Supplier Survey (CBESS). The single-award cost-plus-fixed-fee contract has a four-year period of performance, and an anticipated contract value of $25 million. CBECS survey work will be performed across the nation.

CBECS and CBESS are large, complex, high visibility surveys. CBECS provides EIA with comprehensive national and regional information on the consumption of and expenditures for energy in the commercial sector of the U.S. economy. The CBESS provides EIA with each survey building's energy consumption data directly from utility providers, as needed when building respondents cannot provide the required data. Ultimately, survey data are used for policy planning and for forecasting future energy consumption.

Since 2009, Leidos has established an integrated, innovative and trusted business management approach for CBECS for numerous survey cycles. Under the new contract, Leidos will apply its incumbent expertise on the program, serving as the program management, project control, and risk management lead. Leidos will integrate its proven strategies to deliver support throughout the life cycle of the project for key management tools including the schedule, risk register, and communications plan. The Leidos team will develop new and modern methods to update the data collection process and analysis.

"Leidos is pleased to continue to provide the Department of Energy with proven, tested, feasible, and reliable technical management approaches that have been refined over the last 40 years and applied to this program since 2009," said Leidos Civil Group President Angie Heise. "We look forward to working cooperatively with the Energy Information Administration to achieve program goals and objectives, while remaining committed to offering innovative solutions that improve efficiency and data quality."
