Bosch Celebrates National Association of Manufacturers’ Manufacturing Day with Community Events

Bosch, a leading global supplier of technology and services, participated in the National Association of Manufacturers’ (NAM) Manufacturing Day on October 6, 2017. Created in 2012 by NAM, Manufacturing Day is a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturing employees.

To commemorate this day, four Bosch locations opened their doors to show current students and the public a look at modern manufacturing in action and create awareness around career opportunities in manufacturing. The Bosch locations that participated are: Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; St. Joseph, Michigan; and Charleston and Fountain Inn, South Carolina.

“Our goal at Bosch is to foster a new generation of manufacturing employees,” said Mike Mansuetti, president, Robert Bosch LLC. “Today’s manufacturing industry is advanced, high-tech and dynamic. Manufacturing Day is an opportunity to expose students, parents, educators, and legislators to the opportunities available in modern, technology-driven manufacturing facilities and to show how exciting careers in manufacturing can be.”

The demand for skilled workers in the U.S. continues to outpace supply. This trend shows no sign of slowing, with more than 3.5 million manufacturing job openings expected over the next decade, according to NAM’s affiliate, the Manufacturing Institute.

Bosch is committed to filling the talent pipeline and offers a breadth of programs to expose students to manufacturing, including immersive apprenticeship programs and STEM education-focused grants awarded locally through the Bosch Community Fund.
