ACMA now offers CME/CE for the First and Only Professional Board Certification for Medical Science Liaisons and Medical Affairs Professionals

NEW YORK, Oct. 24, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Accreditation Council for Medical Affairs (ACMA), the only organization exclusively dedicated to medical affairs professionals and the global medical science liaison (MSL) profession is now considered the industry standard for accrediting Board Certification programs for MSLs and medical affairs professionals worldwide.

The Board Certified Medical Affairs Specialist Program or BCMAS is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) and the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). In addition, the ACMA is a recognized organizational member by the Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE), a global leader known for recognizing excellence in board certification programs.

"The ACMA only accredits the BCMAS program for MSLs and medical affairs professionals. It is important to know that, we do not accredit any other 'certification' programs. Professionals in the pharmaceutical industry should be cautious about enrolling in other programs not accredited by the ACMA" said, Mehul Patel, PharmD, BCMAS, a member of the ACMA Board of Governors and Medical Director with Allergan. "We are proud to say that the BCMAS program is recognized as the standard of excellence for professional board certification training for MSLs and medical affairs professionals in general," said Suzanne Soliman, PharmD, BCMAS, Chief Academic Officer with the ACMA.

Dr. Soliman, a former Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs at the University of Illinois Chicago College of Pharmacy and a well-respected thought leader in pharmacy education points out, "A key feature of the BCMAS program is that unlike a certificate program, after one passes the board exam, they will be awarded a professional designation that is globally recognized and used to highlight their certified status. We now have several pharmaceutical companies that are offering the BCMAS program to MSL and medical affairs teams worldwide."
