Hamilton-Fulton-Montgomery BOCES Announces Completion of a 725 kW Solar Farm
JOHNSTOWN, N.Y., Nov. 29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Dynamic Energy Solutions, LLC (Dynamic Energy) congratulates Hamilton Fulton Montgomery Board of Cooperative Educational Services (HFM BOCES) on flipping the switch for their hosted 725 kW ground-mounted solar PV system on Tuesday, October 3. District Superintendent, Dr. Patrick Michel, welcomed local government officials, executives from Dynamic Energy and the HFM BOCES staff, faculty, and students. The electricity produced by the solar facility is expected to save HFM BOCES an estimated $800,000 over a 20-year period.
"In addition to being a source of revenue, the solar farm will also be an educational resource for our students," said Dr. Patrick Michel, HFM BOCES District Superintendent. "By undertaking this project, we also demonstrate our true commitment to the environment and the planet and serve as an example to our students and the entire community."
Dynamic Energy, a turnkey solar energy provider, built the solar project on approximately three acres in front of the BOCES main campus in Johnstown, New York. The system is expected to generate 945,000 kWh of electricity annually, enough to offset nearly 90% of the school's electricity cost. WGL Energy Systems, Inc., (WGL Energy) will own, operate and maintain the system. WGL Energy has more than 250 MW of solar under contract across 23 states and the District of Columbia.

The project received funding through The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) under the NY-Sun initiative, a statewide solar incentive program under Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to increase the number of solar electric systems across the State.

The clean power generated by the solar system is expected to offset 703 metric tons of carbon dioxide annually, which is the equivalent of removing 151 passenger vehicles from New York roads or the amount of carbon sequestered by 828 acres of U.S. forest each year.
