NYU Langone Ambulatory Care Practice In Bay Ridge Begins Phased Opening

BROOKLYN, N.Y., Nov. 30, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- NYU Langone Health has announced the opening of the first phase of NYU Langone Ambulatory Care Bay Ridge, a large multispecialty practice that will offer primary care and a wide variety of subspecialty services in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.

Physicians recently began seeing orthopedic patients on the fourth floor of the new ambulatory care center, located at 6740 Fourth Avenue. Areas of specialty include hand and wrist surgery, hip and knee reconstruction, spine surgery, sports medicine, trauma surgery and pain medicine. X-ray imaging also is available on the same floor.

"This large multispecialty ambulatory center is part of NYU Langone's overall commitment to provide increased healthcare services in Brooklyn," said Andrew W. Brotman, MD, senior vice president and vice dean for clinical affairs and strategy, chief clinical officer at NYU Langone. "The total number of office visits to see NYU Langone physicians is more than six million. We need to provide more options directly in Brooklyn neighborhoods so patients have more convenient options for high level care."

Over the next several months--and by the conclusion of summer 2018--NYU Langone also will open at the Bay Ridge location an on-site imaging center, with MRI Scans, CT Scans, Ultrasound Imaging, and X-ray imaging, and will offer primary and specialty office-based clinical care, including:

-- Cardiology, including echocardiography stress tests, ultrasound, nuclear
imaging, and other important cardiac diagnostic tests
-- Ear, nose, and throat (ENT)
    -- Gastroenterology
-- General breast surgery consultations and follow-up appointments
-- Obstetrics, gynecology, high-risk pregnancy care, and gynecologic
        oncology
    -- Internal medicine
    -- Podiatry
-- Reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgery consultations and follow-up
        appointments
    -- Rheumatology

Ultimately, the new center will span four clinical floors and approximately 35,000 square feet.

NYU Langone expects to employ more than 60 physicians and other medical staff once NYU Langone Ambulatory Care Bay Ridge is fully operational.

Follow-up surgical procedures, if necessary, can also be performed in Brooklyn at NYU Langone Hospital--Brooklyn or NYU Langone's ambulatory surgery center in Midwood. More complex surgical cases can be performed at Tisch Hospital on NYU Langone's main campus in Manhattan at 550 First Avenue. To minimize moving between boroughs, pre- and postsurgical appointments will be conveniently scheduled at NYU Langone Ambulatory Care Bay Ridge.

No matter which location patients receive care, physicians across NYU Langone's entire health system can retrieve up-to-date medical records and test results via Epic, NYU Langone's electronic health record system. Patients also are able to manage appointments, communicate with physicians, and remotely refill prescriptions through Epic's patient portal, MyChart at NYU Langone Health.

NYU Langone is committed to bringing world-class medical care to patients where they live and work, with more than 230 ambulatory locations across the five boroughs and greater metropolitan area; more than a quarter of these locations are in Brooklyn.
