Lumiant TitanMade™ Product Launch Accelerates with Up To $1M BCIP Pre-Qualification

The Government of Canada formally notified Lumiant that its application to the Build in Canada Innovation Program (BCIP) has been approved. This official pre-qualification sets the stage for the Government of Canada to buy up to $1 million worth of Lumiant TitanMade™ armour tiles for testing by Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC). TitanMade is a patent-pending titanium ceramic composite material that is ideally suited for ballistic armour applications where weight and thickness are of critical importance.

Lumiant Corporation was founded in 2011 with the goal of creating a platform for the market-driven discovery and development of novel advanced materials for industry. The Company utilizes its proprietary Xaedra™ materials discovery software which integrates artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, and quantum physics, as well as scalable manufacturing capabilities. The Company describes its material discovery methodology as Rational Material Design, or RMD, which is proving to be a highly efficient approach to accelerating the discovery and development of new materials.

TitanMade composite is the result of a 5-year intensive R&D effort. Compared with commercial ballistic armour ceramics, TitanMade has many superior properties; resulting in greater ballistic efficiency, and armour which is thinner and lighter. This weight savings addresses the defence industry’s critical needs for both mobility and survivability.

“As the founder and CEO of Lumiant, I am happy and proud to have achieved pre-qualified status with the BCIP,” stated Mr. Richard Holloway. “The company is indeed fortunate to have such generous support from the Government of Canada. In return, we look forward to providing greater support to our Canadian Forces by enabling the very best armour protection available anywhere.”
