MyNotifi and National Senior Corps Association Join Forces for New Fall Prevention Program

SAN ANGELO, Texas, Jan. 17, 2018 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- MedHab, creator of the wearable fall detection device MyNotifi, is pleased to offer NSCA and member affiliates (Senior Corps Programs, volunteers and clients) an opportunity to take part in a three-pronged fall prevention service strategy, which will include education, fall prevention, and research into fall prevention.

"NSCA was founded on the shared belief that professional cooperation is the most effective approach in advocating for all Senior Corps projects," said NSCA President, Donna Whitcomb. "MyNotifi provides yet another resource in helping our senior population live healthier, happier and more independent lives."

NSCA is a non-profit with more than 500 member organizations, all working toward the common goal of achieving adequate federal support and program flexibility for the Senior Corps programs nationwide: Senior Companion, RSVP, and Foster Grandparent programs.

MyNotifi is a wrist-worn fall detection unit connected wirelessly to the wearer's smart phone. MyNotifi uses precise and accurate fall detection technology to monitor the wearer's movements, detect falls, and notify the user's custom contact list of friends and family, if or when a fall has occurred, and when other help may be needed. The MyNotifi app is equipped with 38 range-of-motion and strengthening exercises, specifically geared toward mobility and fall prevention.

"Falling is the number one cause of injury and death in the aged population and can be very expensive to treat," said MedHab CEO, Johnny Ross. "We are thrilled to help the NSCA fulfill their mission to keep seniors living independently for longer, and potentially reduce and prevent falls."

NSCA makes every effort to provide education, information and opportunities for better health and quality of life to Senior Corps programs and volunteers, including the clients they serve. The implementation of this strategy will provide a unique opportunity for NSCA members, Senior Corps projects, volunteers and clients, while allowing NSCA to play a leadership role to help reduce the impact and costs related to falls by older adults.

MyNotifi will also offer discounted MyNotifi fall detection wearables for all NSCA members (Senior Corps projects, volunteers and clients.) MyNotifi's wearable device will anonymously/namelessly gather, calculate and store information such as falls, benefits of exercise, risk assessment and more, enabling research into fall detection through data that is collected through the MyNotifi device. These findings will help MedHab provide data in the greater research of fall detection monitoring and notification.
