Smithers Avanza Enlists Leading Expert Dr. Judith Henck to Consult on Development of Juvenile Animal Studies

Smithers Avanza, a boutique contract research organization (CRO) supporting the pharmaceutical and chemical industries, has announced the engagement of leading developmental toxicologist Judith W. Henck, PhD, DABT to offer clients a suite of juvenile animal studies by the third quarter of 2018. Dr. Henck will work closely with Caitlin Murphy, PhD, DABT, Director of Developmental and Reproductive Toxicology (DART) at Smithers Avanza to develop and train staff for these studies.

Dr. Henck is a Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology with extensive experience in safety evaluation of pharmaceuticals and industrial chemicals. She is currently a Consulting Toxicologist with Toxicology Solutions Consulting LLC, providing expertise in nonclinical safety assessment to the pharmaceutical industry and contract research organizations. Dr. Henck has designed, conducted and interpreted a large number of toxicology studies during her career and has provided integration of nonclinical data for global regulatory submissions. She has served as the toxicology expert on interdisciplinary teams charged with the development of endocrine, cardiovascular, neuroscience, and musculoskeletal therapeutic agents, and as the subject matter expert for pediatric/juvenile study design/interpretation and regulatory submissions.

She has served as an invited lecturer on a variety of topics, including male and female reproductive toxicology, developmental and juvenile toxicology, and neurotoxicology, and has held adjunct faculty positions in the School of Public Health, University of Michigan, and the School of Osteopathic Medicine, Marion University. She is the author of over 70 publications, book chapters, and abstracts. Previous employment experience was gained at Eli Lilly and Company, Parke-Davis Pharmaceutical Research, TRL (a contract research organization), and Dow Chemical Company.
