SecurityMetrics' PIIscan Helps Orgs Locate and Protect Personal Data and Comply with GDPR, PCI DSS, HIPAA

OREM, Utah, Feb. 21, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- With the unrelenting rise in data breaches and cybertheft, organizations need to secure personally identifiable information (PII) more than ever. However, that can be difficult if they're unknowingly storing the sensitive data on their systems.

Today, SecurityMetrics announced the release of PIIscan, new data discovery software designed to help organizations discover unencrypted PII, including:

    --  Australian Business Numbers (ABN)

PIIscan helps organizations comply with security standards and mandates, such as the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)--which is set for implementation in May of 2018--as well as the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), and HIPAA. The new tool searches computer systems, hard drives, and attached storage devices for unencrypted data. If PIIscan finds any sensitive data, it provides the path to the file location where the information is found.

PIIscan users can configure the tool to search--or not search--for spaces and dashes, graphic files, and image and executable files. PIIscan can also run in "forensics mode" to maintain last access dates on files.
