Alion Awarded $34m to Provide Navy Communication Support

In the face of almost instantaneous news cycles and increasing social media presence, the Navy must maintain a positive and relevant presence in the media and public communications arena to further its mission while maintaining appropriate operational security. As part of the Navy’s communications mission, the Chief of Naval Information Command (CHINFO) has awarded Alion Science and Technology a $34M indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ), cost-plus-fixed-fee, multiple-award contract to provide worldwide communications and media support services.

“In this digital age, the Navy must be able to monitor communications that could impact its mission while developing a communication plan and supporting media requests,” said Senior Vice President Vince Stammetti, head of the company’s Systems Solutions Business Unit (SSBU). “We are honored to continue this partnership to support CHINFO across many tasks, including assessing the Navy’s social media presence and helping to define training for the Navy’s public affairs officers.”

Through this multiple-award IDIQ contract, Alion will work to support CHINFO across five major tasks: Media Relations, Communications Integrations and Strategy, Community Outreach, Visual Information Support, and Professional and Community Development Facilitation. The 5-year contract includes four option years that, if exercised, could bring the total value of the contract to $34M. Work will be performed at multiple sites across the country and is a Task Order vehicle allowing the Navy the flexibility to award specific support items to the team of contractors supporting the efforts.
