ClearHealth Quality Institute's New Telemedicine Accreditation Program Endorsed by the American Telemedicine Association

TAP Accreditation to Provide Consumers with an Instantly Recognizable Seal of Approval

ANNAPOLIS, Md., March 9, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- ClearHealth Quality Institute(TM)( )(CHQI), an independent health care accrediting body, announced today that its new Telemedicine Accreditation Program (TAP) standards have been officially endorsed by the American Telemedicine Association (ATA).

As the only telemedicine or telehealth accreditation program recognized by the ATA, the TAP accreditation seal provides consumers with an easy-to-identify confirmation of quality from an independent third-party organization, a patient and consumer benefit that had previously been unavailable for telehealth care.

"Telehealth and virtual care are changing the face of healthcare. The new TAP accreditation standards are built upon ATA's original standards, and provide clear and consistent quality and performance standards so that consumers receive the excellent quality of care that they deserve, in the modality of their choice," said Ann Mond Johnson, Chief Executive Officer of the American Telemedicine Association.

CHQI's new Telemedicine Accreditation Program (TAP) Standards will soon be available at www.CHQI.com.

"CHQI's new Telemedicine Standards cover several types of telemedicine encounters, including Consumer to Provider (C2P); Provider to Consumer (P2C) and Provider to Provider (P2P)," said Bill Lewis, MD, MBA, former CMO, GlobalMed, Principal, Wellmedcare Consulting, Senior Consultant Telemedicine, Humana, and Co-Chair, CHQI Telemedicine Standards Committee. "The TAP program forges national standards where none have existed before, thus filling regulatory, operational, and quality gaps with leading-edge accreditation requirements."
