CHERR.IO Celebrates Their Win on the First Ever Blockchain Oriented Hackathon in Davos

MARIBOR, Slovenia, March 13, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- CHERR.IO, Slovenian start-up from Maribor has launched a new platform that offers blockchain solutions for all charitable and humanitarian organizations. They won FutureHack, the first ever hackathon that took place in Davos during the week of the World Economic Forum (WEF).

This important blockchain event managed to gather not only representatives of global political and business elites, but also talented individuals and teams of top developers, designers and entrepreneurs from all over Europe on one place. They were all focused on one single goal - trying to find blockchain solutions to address the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). Shaping new ideas for easier confrontation alongside different global challenges in the near future, CHERR.IO team created their own SDG, called charitable and humanitarian aid with a focus on helping the ones who need help the most.

After several months of hard work and hacking remotely from Slovenia for 48 hours straight, extensive amount of effort finally paid off. Slovenian Prime Minister Miro Cerar, who also attended the hackathon in Davos, honourably announced CHERR.IO as "the most inspirational project from Slovenia, presented on FutureHack hackathon in Davos." After a long wait, the organizers finally announced the best teams overall. The CHERR.IO team also became the absolute winner of FutureHack 2018 for Slovenia.

The official award ceremony took place last Thursday in Geneva, within the Regional Forum of UN on SD. "Winning the overall prize as a Slovenian team is a remarkable milestone for us. We are thrilled that the judges and wider public noted our purpose, which is helping those who have been neglected and in need. We truly believe that developing ideas through SDG could significantly change the foundations of humanity. Future of Humanity, a global non-profit and autonomous entity that organized the FutureHack, is doing a spectacular job with developing their goals on an international level. We are honored to be a part of it," David Tacer, Mario Markovic and Aljaz Straser, experienced computer developers and co-founders of CHERR.IO told about their big success after receiving an award out of the hands of Tadej Slapnik, State Secretary in the cabinet of the Slovenian Prime Minister.

On this occasion they thanked him and Nena Dokuzov, director of Cultural-Economic Centre of European Space Technologies and Noordung Hub for all the help and support. Furthermore, they expressed special thanks to Melinda Woolf, the founder of Future of Humanity organization and the FutureHack.
