BBOXX Wins Technology Commercialisation Award at CleanEquity® Monaco 2018 Hosted by Innovator Capital

LONDON, March 15, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- CleanEquity® Monaco 2018, the forum for emerging sustainable technology companies, hosted by Innovator Capital and the Monaco Economic Board, closed on Friday, 9th March with the Awards Ceremony in the presence of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco.

An independent panel of judges, chaired by His Serene Highness, selected BBOXX as winner of the award for Excellence in the Field of Environmental Technology Commercialisation.

Mungo Park, Chairman of Innovator Capital commented: "BBOXX's technology has the potential to impact millions of lives, in areas where it is needed most. Providing clean energy, at affordable cost, is an important challenge that needs addressing under growing populations. I congratulate them on their progress so far and look forward to seeing them succeed."

BBOXX is a next generation utility making a big impact in the developing world with its smart solar systems, driven by a mission to provide energy to 20 million people by 2020. The company believes that there is an opportunity to leapfrog straight to smarter solutions, using solar power and pioneering technology to bypass expensive traditional grid infrastructure, and to provide an on-grid experience to communities living in an off-grid setting, powering economic growth and transforming lives.

BBOXX recently launched Pulse - a cloud-based task management platform, which enables distributed businesses to improve efficiency and enhance customer service. Pulse overcomes many of the big obstacles that distributed energy companies experience in Africa, for example managing customers, products and employees that are spread out across remote locations.

BBOXX already operates in 35 countries, mainly in East Africa, with large operations in Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo and most recently Togo. BBOXX began its operations in Togo in 2017 after winning a government contract to roll out 300,000 off-grid solar home systems across the country - and recently this initiative received a significant boost following the completion of a pioneering debt finance deal worth US$4 million with local bank Union Togolaise de Banque (UTB).

Mansoor Hamayun, CEO of BBOXX said: "We are thrilled to win this prestigious award. It is fantastic recognition of how we our putting our smart technology to work, powering growth and transforming lives of some of the world's poorest communities.

"Over 1 billion people across the world are without access to reliable electricity. It is a serious issue and we believe that our technology and our relentless focus on innovation will provide part of the answer to this pressing global challenge."

CleanEquity thanks, in particular: Prince Albert II of Monaco's Foundation, Cohesion Investments, Covington & Burling, Cision, Cranfield University, easyGroup, Hobbs & Towne, the Monaco Economic Board, Parkview, Shell Foundation and STRATIS Impact.

CleanEquity Monaco will be returning to the Principality of Monaco in March 2019.
