CDR Names Lockheed Martin Canada Top Defence Company for 2018

Canada's leading defence and military magazine, CANADIAN DEFENCE REVIEW, has released its annual survey and ranking of defence companies in Canada.

Lockheed Martin Canada, a key supplier to the Canadian Armed Forces, has been ranked # 1 in CDR’s survey of Canada’s Top Defence Companies for 2018. This marks the fourteenth year for CDR’s survey.

In announcing this year’s rankings, Editor-in-Chief, Peter Kitchen, commented, “With the selection of Lockheed Martin Canada as our # 1 company, we are recognizing that it is possible for a major international defence company to truly invest in Canada and to develop home-grown technologies that not only benefit Canada, but are suitable for the export market as well.”

Kitchen added, “Lockheed Martin Canada has been a great corporate citizen, partnering with other Canadian companies on major projects, acquiring Canadian companies and growing them and also showing financial support for a variety of charities and academic institutions.”

In commenting on Lockheed Martin Canada’s selection, Charles Bouchard, Lockheed Martin Canada, Chief Executive, said, “We are honoured to receive this recognition from CDR Magazine and are proud of our corporate commitment to and investment in Canada.”

Bouchard explained, “With 1,000 Canadian employees working in Canada and thousands more as part of our extensive supply chain, Lockheed Martin Canada’s vision is very much aligned with the Government of Canada’s focus on achieving sustainable growth for the Canadian economy through innovation and exports while simultaneously increasing new skills development and offering competitive careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.”

CDR’s Kitchen remarked, “This is the second time for Lockheed Martin Canada at the # 1 position but with major naval projects and a fighter aircraft program on the horizon, we expect to see the government call on the vast capabilities of this defence giant in the years ahead.”

An evaluation panel consisting of CDR editorial staff and independent advisors ranked the companies based on factors such as economic impact, innovation, contribution to the nation's security, corporate integrity and support for Canada’s military.

With its Top 75 Defence Companies Ranking, CDR’s goal is to showcase Canada’s defence industry and all that it has to offer.
