GEICO Sets October 31 Deadline to Nominate 2018 Military Service Award Honorees

GEICO is now accepting nominations for its 31st annual GEICO Military Service Awards program. Through this program, one member of each military branch and one member of the National Guard or Reserve Forces will be honored for their outstanding volunteer service to their military and civilian communities. The deadline for entries is October 31, 2018.

Military Service Award honorees are selected for their work in any of three nominating categories:

  • Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention
  • Fire Safety and Fire Prevention
  • Traffic Safety and Accident Prevention

“GEICO has been dedicated to supporting the men and women serving our country since we opened in 1936,” said GEICO’s CEO Tony Nicely. “We are extremely proud to have the opportunity to honor those service members each year and salute the honorees not only for their military service but for improving the safety and well-being of others in their communities.”

Each unit, base, post, or activity may nominate eligible enlisted members, according to the established procedures of its particular service. Nominees should exhibit noteworthy contributions or accomplishments while serving on active duty or in the reserves/national guard in one of the fields recognized.

The GEICO Philanthropic Foundation will present GEICO Military Service Award recipients with a cash award and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., from wherever they are serving.

The 2018 GEICO Military Service Awards ceremony will be held in Washington, D.C., on April 29, 2019, with military officials and GEICO representatives in attendance.

Nomination procedures are published by each service. Military members should contact their local base safety or personnel office for submission information. Military members can learn more about the GEICO Military Service Awards through their local base safety or personnel office.
