Toshiba Announces Favorable Resolution of CRT Litigation in Washington State

Toshiba Corporation is pleased to announce the favorable resolution of legal proceedings in the State of Washington regarding the Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) industry. After years of litigation, on May 29, 2018, the King County Superior Court approved a settlement and consent decree between the State of Washington and Toshiba. In doing so, the Court explicitly acknowledged that the parties resolved the case with no admission of liability, stating “neither the existence of this Consent Decree nor anything contained therein shall be deemed or construed to be an admission by [Toshiba] or evidence of any liability, wrongdoing or violation of law by [Toshiba], or the truth of any of the claims or allegations contained in the complaint.” Under the settlement and consent decree, Toshiba was able to resolve the claims against it with a modest payment constituting a small fraction of the claimed damages. The consent decree is publicly available on the Court’s docket and is available at: https://agportal-s3bucket.s3.amazonaws.com/ToshibaConsentDecree.pdf.
