CITGO Awards Scholarships to McNeese State University Engineering and Business Students & SOWELA Technical Students

SULPHUR, La., July 5, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- CITGO Petroleum Corporation today announced that it has awarded scholarships to deserving engineering and business students at McNeese State University (MSU) and local high school graduates entering SOWELA Technical College. The scholarships are in coordination with several other CITGO scholarship awards this year and the CITGO science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) Talent Pipeline program.

The MSU Engineering scholarship recipients each received a CITGO-sponsored scholarship towards their college education - a share of $10,000 in scholarship funds was awarded to the mechanical and chemical engineering disciplines at MSU ($5,000 per discipline). Those scholarship recipients include:

Chemical Engineering: Carmen Angelini, CITGO Co-op in summer 2018; Landon Hill, CITGO Co-op in fall 2018; Bethany LeJeune, CITGO Co-op in fall 2018; Brant Morgan, CITGO Co-op in fall 2018; and Thomas Spagnoli, former CITGO Co-op.

Mechanical Engineering: Michael Bruney, CITGO Co-op in fall 2018; Wesley Steech, CITGO Co-op; and Cory VanNetta, CITGO Co-op.

The MSU Business scholarship recipients each received a CITGO scholarship towards their college education - a share of $4,750 in scholarship funds was awarded to the business disciplines at MSU. Those scholarship recipients include:

Finance and Accounting: Dillon Breaux

Accounting: Caitlyn Delhomme; Alla Voth

Business Administration: Robert Fontenot, CITGO Co-op

CITGO awarded a total of $25,000 to four students pursuing higher education in STEM-related programs at SOWELA Technical College. Those scholarship recipients include:

Westlake High graduates: Cody Carpenter and Logan Viator each received scholarships to SOWELA for instrumentation.

Sulphur High graduates: Lane Goos and Casey Trosclair also received scholarships to SOWELA for process technology.
