temi Robot Selects Newsight's NSI3000 CMOS Image Sensor for the temi Personal Robot 3D Vision System

temi (www.robotemi.com), developer of advanced personal robot temi has selected Newsight's NSI3000 line sensor for the robot’s 3D visual system. The NSI3000 chip is embedded in the robot’s LiDAR system, which controls the essential functioning of the personal robot’s navigation.

temi is a personal robot that aims to become an essential addition to every home. Featuring a 10.1 touchscreen atop a 3.2-foot-tall minimalist frame, temi traverses the home without colliding with furniture, providing a host of useful, connected capabilities on demand.

Intelligent automaton offers the experience of handsfree video calls, control of all smart home devices, enjoyment of music and videos from any room in the home, a vastly superior AI assistant. temi is an open platform for apps that interact with people, including interactive games, educational apps for fun learning, medical apps, etc. Furthermore, when away from home, a smartphone connection to temi facilitates the owner’s continued physical presence in the home: to talk to family members, or to check that everything is OK.

Yossi Wolf, founder and CEO of temi: "While considering the requirements for a state-of-the-art vision system for our robot, we evaluated several solutions and chose Newsight’s chip, which demonstrated outstanding performance and the best ROI. Our Robot's navigation system is highly advanced, and we are very pleased with market demand for our products, as customers such as Google begin to acquire our robots".

"We are very pleased with the collaboration with temi" adds Eli Assoolin, CEO and co-founder of Newsight Imaging: "Once again our superior technology proved to be the best fit, this time for a personal robot application. We are seeing strong, growing demand for accurate and affordable 3D systems, and are currently selling the chip to leading vendors of LiDARs, robots, Industry 4.0, and automotive, as we develop our next generation area sensor for mobile, surveillance and automotive applications. temi is an exciting use-case of our chip, and we see the vast potential of a Newsight chip included in a robot we believe will be in every home, and as a firm indication that we are on the right track".
