Cianciolo, Re Join Board of Maritime Non-Profit

NORFOLK, Va., July 18, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Col. Mark G. Cianciolo (USMC Ret.) and Capt. Joseph Re (USCG Ret.) are joining the board of directors of the Association for Rescue at Sea (AFRAS), a U.S.-based non-profit that raises money for world volunteer maritime search and rescue organizations.

Cianciolo, a 31-year U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serves as Regional Vice President for Orolia Americas, which provides resilient positioning, navigation and timing solutions from Global Navigation Satellite System-based technologies. Re is a 31-year U.S. Coast Guard veteran now serving as Missions Solutions Director at Sev1Tech, an IT, engineering and program management consulting company.

Cianciolo and Re begin their AFRAS Director terms after the organization's annual Board of Directors meeting adjourns, being held in Washington D.C. Sept. 13. The meeting is followed by the annual AFRAS Capitol Hill search and rescue award ceremony, at the Rayburn House Office Building.

The ceremony honors heroic efforts of individuals and ship crews who have saved lives at sea during the previous calendar year. AFRAS presents lifesaving awards to U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary individuals and crews, world volunteer maritime search and rescue crews, commercial ship crews from around the globe and cruise ship crews.

This year's ceremony is hosted by U.S. Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA), and will be attended by other members of Congress and their staffs. The Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard and senior staff, as well as maritime industry executives and senior staff, will also join the honorees and the AFRAS board and officers at the event.

"The opportunity to meet and socialize for two hours with so many important maritime officials at such a pleasant event makes this the best money we spend in DC," said one longtime corporate sponsor of the ceremony.

Corporate sponsorship opportunities are available for the Capitol Hill event. Sponsors are recognized on banners and programs at the reception and ceremony, as well as from the podium, and in a post-event newsletter and on the AFRAS website. Company representatives are also invited to attend the ceremony.

Visit the "Donations & Memberships" tab at https://www.afras.org for sponsorship information.
