American Airlines earnings hit by higher fuel costs
American Airlines announced Thursday that it would trim travel capacity and defer deliveries of some planes after surging fuel prices hit second-quarter profits.
American reported net income of $566 million, down 34.5 percent from the year-ago level.
Revenues rose 3.7 percent to $11.6 billion.
