Businesses Team with Local Charities

FREEHOLD, N.J., Aug. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Many of our local charities, who serve their communities at their most elemental levels and who know best where the needs are, struggle to stay alive and attract donors. A network of New Jersey businesses, working together, is helping some amazingly effective grass-roots charities compete.

Jeremy Skillings, a search engine optimization (SEO) specialist, works closely with small and mid-sized businesses in New Jersey through his company, You Can Be Found, by teaming with his many clients in what he calls a "win-win" strategy.

"I know how hard it is to raise money for your charity," Skillings explains. "Even the big-name charities struggle for every cent, and the smaller local charities really have to hustle to get funds."

As someone who works with business websites to heighten their visibility on the internet, the Freehold, NJ, resident came to realize that he has a powerful resource at his disposal for the communities he and his business clients serve. It is a marketing strategy that succeeds for both the businesses and their chosen charities.

The key is connecting local charity websites with local businesses by listing at least ten of the latter, linking the charity to each business, which, in turn, provides a link to that charity on its site. Each of those business "sponsors" guarantees a minimum of $500 a year for the charity, as well as greater public awareness of their causes. As a marketing expert, Skillings works with both the businesses and the charities to facilitate the process.

Among the charities to which this process has already become committed is Meet the Need, a nonprofit organization that assists the less fortunate throughout New Jersey in a variety of ways. Their "Projects of Promise" include food drives for the hungry; necessities for the homeless, and even Christmas toys for children without families, notably orphans and those awaiting placement in the adoption process.

Meet the Need is the brainchild of Yvette Anderson, a Monmouth County resident and social insurance specialist for the Social Security Administration, who has an impressive record of working with underprivileged children and adults.

"This is just one example of how we can team, as a business community, to improve the quality of life for those who need it the most," Skillings says of this unique marketing approach.
