Sabreez Launches Clean Energy Factor API for Utilities and IoT Companies

OAKLAND, Calif., September 20, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Sabreez has announced the product launch of the Clean Energy Factor (CEF) Application Programming Interface (API) to help integrate renewable energy supply with consumer demand in California. The CEF and associated 24-hour forecast API can be viewed at http://www.sabreez.com/california. Sabreez's energy information system is available to electric power utilities, smart home companies, and other smart grid stakeholders that wish to engage consumers in load shifting and renewable energy resource integration.

The CEF API reports the sum of the previously released Wind Number and Solar Boost APIs, which were built on the Watt Time API. Now, the sum of the Wind Number and Solar Boost is presented as an easy to use single-variable Clean Energy Factor that presents the electric power supply more accurately, using data provided by the electricitymap.org API. The CEF API forms the basis of propagating a daily clean energy forecast in markets like California that have abundant solar and wind resources to inform energy consumers when electric power is cleaner.

"Sabreez launched the Wind Number and Solar Boost APIs earlier this year, and we've worked to increase accuracy and reliability using the electricitymap.org API, confirmed through analysis of data available from the California Independent System Operator's 'Renewables Watch' database. Our company is committed to reporting accurate and reliable energy information in a consumer-friendly format to encourage load shifting for our customers consumer-facing applications," says Scott Hoppe, Founder and CEO of Sabreez.

"The electricitymap.org is an open-source initiative that computes the origin of electricity consumed and its associated carbon footprint, globally, in real-time, and forecasted 24h ahead. The electricityMap API - relentlessly maintained and improved by the community of open-source contributors - enables Sabreez to compute and communicate its Wind Number and Solar Boost in the most reliable manner," states Bruno LaJoie of Tomorrow (electricitymap.org).

Sabreez created the Wind Number App in 2014. With the addition of the Solar Boost, consumers can see with even greater detail when their energy supply is cleaner and costs less as utilities switch to time of use rates. The Daily Clean Energy Forecast provided by Sabreez is an easy way for consumers that want to use cleaner energy to stay informed and take action. Our CEF API will allow for automation of this decision by utilities and smart home companies as consumers wish to automate their devices.
