New Energy Works to Present at Portland Green Building Slam

PORTLAND, Ore., Sept. 26, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Ten fast-paced talks will focus on remarkable, innovative, and inspirational green building projects at the Portland Green Building Slam. New Energy Works will be one of ten companies selected to present at the event on Friday, October 12, 2018 from 6:30pm to 10pm. The timber frame design and build company will share their NEW Jewel, a sustainably and highly crafted single-family residence constructed in Dayton, OR.

"The Portland Green Building Slam is a fun, educational event. Ten fast-paced talks offer quick bites of fresh information, some quite remarkable and inspiring," commented Jonathan Orpin, founder/president of New Energy Works.

"We'll be sharing our NEW Jewel, a modest residence with detailed design intent, high craftsmanship, quality enclosure and components," continued Orpin. "Add dinner, drinks, and good company and you have a great evening."

The NEW Jewel uses a pure and simple form, creating a true jewel built with the highest quality materials, super-insulated envelope over a timber frame structure, triple pane windows, and a high-efficiency heat pump. Additionally, the doors are hand-crafted, and the cabinets are from site-harvested walnut. A central ridge skylight allows natural light in along the length of the home.

"A jewelry box was the inspiration for this small residence," explained David Shirley, Associate Architect at New Energy Works. "They are small but typically showcase quality craftsmanship and derive their aesthetics from this intricate craftwork. For the NEW Jewel we focused on craft and on energy efficiency. I'm looking forward to sharing the project at the Slam."

The Green Building Slam will kick off with appetizers, drinks and networking opportunities. It is the final, wrap-up celebration for Portland's Sustainable Building Week (taking place October 8-14, 2018). Tickets to the Slam are available online. Space is limited.
