As part of Meggitt’s support at the Defenders of Freedom level, the museum’s second highest, the company also will provide six years of custom scenario creation for the FATS 100P, a 10-year warranty, plus guest lectures to facilitate public outreach efforts.

“The FATS 100P donated by Meggitt is more than a state-of-the-art solution for training police officers to enhance their skills and make critical decisions in the most challenging situations,” said Jeff Murphy, president of Meggitt Training Systems. “It reflects the dedication of more than 400 employees, many of whom served as police officers prior to joining our company. We are honored to support the National Law Enforcement Museum by helping it accurately portray the vital role of police officers in daily life.”

The FATS 100P features advanced functionality for both instructor and trainee, delivering weapon handling and shot placement analytics, marksmanship automatic coaching tools, video-based judgmental training for escalation and de-escalation, and enhanced graphic capabilities, all in a compact package. Portable and light, the FATS 100P comes in two rugged hand-carry cases the size of a large range bag that allow easy transportation, set-up and operation by one person. Up to six weapon simulators, including wireless BlueFire® ones, can be run simultaneously.

Over the last decade, the National Law Enforcement Museum has worked with dozens of law enforcement experts, historians, academics and community leaders to develop the core of the Museum’s exhibitions and programming to ensure an accurate, unbiased portrayal of American law enforcement,” said David L. Brant, museum executive director. “We believe the FATS 100P Training Simulator will give visitors a real feel for the quick and difficult decisions officers must make every day on the job and we’re grateful to Meggitt for their support of the Museum.”

The new museum will hold a free, family-friendly Grand Opening Community Day Celebration on Saturday, October 13, following a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, October 11. Located in Washington DC’s Judiciary Square, the museum will provide a “walk in the shoes” experience of what life in law enforcement if really like. With a collection of more than 21,000 artifacts, it represents nearly every aspect of American law enforcement and is dedicated to expanding and enriching the relationship shared among law enforcement and the communities they serve through immersive exhibitions, educational journeys, insightful and thought-provoking programs.
