Missouri American Water Plans Pipeline Upgrades on Multiple Streets in Mexico

Missouri American Water is planning to begin three projects to upgrade infrastructure in its Mexico district beginning Oct. 22.

Three water main replacements, at a combined investment of $825,000, will ensure Missouri American Water continues to provide safe, reliable water service to customers in Mexico.

  • East Jackson Street, from Agricultural Street to Grand Street: We will be investing $365,000 to install 1,200 feet of new 8-inch ductile iron water main. The new 8-inch main will be replacing 6-inch cast iron main.
  • Kelley Parkway, from Doreli Lane to South Clark Street: We will be investing more than $100,000 to install 230 feet of new 8-inch ductile iron water main.
  • East Liberty Street, from Sunrise to the existing water main on E. Liberty Street: We will be investing more than $360,000 for installation of 2,100 feet of new 12-inch ductile iron main.

“Missouri American Water has to continuously upgrade its water system in order to keep our clean, safe, award-winning water flowing to customers,” said Patrick Kelly, Operations Manager in Mexico. “These investments in upgrading our aging infrastructure will allow us to get ahead of water main breaks and continue to keep our customers happy and in-service.”

Work on these projects generally will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Weather-pending, the projects are expected to be completed by the end of November, with restoration of any disturbed land to be completed in spring 2019.

During construction, customers might experience temporary water service interruptions, discolored water and/or lower-than-normal water pressure. For more information, contact Missouri American Water at 866-430-0820.
