The fire has been named the Woolsey Fire because it appears to have originated near Woolsey Canyon Road in Ventura County.
As has been publicly reported, SoCal Edison reported a "disturbance" in a circuit and related outages near the Woolsey fire just two minutes before the fire began. SoCal Edison submitted a report to the California Public Utilities Commission to alert the government to the event, which indicates that SoCal Edison's facilities may very well have caused the fire.
