For more than 20 years, the Eddie & Ozzie Awards have recognized excellence in magazine editorial and design across all sectors of the industry. "The Eddie & Ozzie Awards recognize the pillars of magazine and digital publishing--outstanding journalism and content, photography, design, and the extremely talented people who produce it," said Caysey Welton, Folio:'s Content Director. "No other program celebrates a wider range of publications. Whether it's a niche magazine with an audience of 5,000, or an online trade publication, or a mass consumer brand that reaches tens of millions of readers on multiple platforms, these awards shine a light on all their brilliant work."

Computer magazine's winning issue on Blockchain Technology in Finance gives readers a riveting look at how the banking and financial services industry has been captivated by blockchain's many transformative advantages. Originally conceived as the basis of cryptocurrencies, blockchain technology's disruptive potential has enormous implications for many areas of endeavor--both public and private.

"Philip Treleaven, University College London, and his guest editor colleagues have done an outstanding job putting this special issue together, showing our readership how the financial services sector swiftly overcome the Bitcoin challenges to focus on many promising advantages that the Blockchain technology can bring about that sector," said Sumi Helal, Computer's Editor-in-Chief. "As the articles started to come in for review and editing, it became evident a new industrial force is in the making -a direct and significant impact of one of the most recent computing technologies."

The articles in this issue explore the impacts of blockchain technology, including:

    -- how blockchain's community validation approach has decentralized control
        over currency, shifting bolstering users' trust from humans to machines
        by avoiding single points of failures and security breaches thanks to a
        durable, robust, and incorruptible digital ledger;
    -- how the story arc for blockchain brought it from a libertarian-rooted,
        privacy-minded, decentralized cryptocurrency into a technology stack
        that fully satisfies mainstream business, security, and regulatory
        requirements; and
    --  how blockchain-based smart-contract applications will revolutionize
        legal services and government sectors, and much more.
