Nestlé Waters North America and American Trucking Associations to Host "Houston Share the Road" Safety Event on December 8

HOUSTON, Dec. 4, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Nestlé Waters North America and the American Trucking Associations are hosting a joint "Share the Road" Safety Event in Houston for members of the public next Saturday. The purpose of the event is to raise awareness about safe driving practices and help train passenger motorists in the Houston area how best to drive safely on roads with large trucks.

"Safeguarding the health and well-being of our neighbors, friends and drivers on the roads we share is very important to Nestlé Waters North America," said Gwen Rodriguez, National Logistics Safety Manager for Nestlé Waters North America. "We take all safety seriously, and work to ensure the security, courtesy, and professionalism of all drivers in our organization. This event is a way for us to share some of our safety experience with Houston-area residents who drive passenger vehicles - especially newer drivers - so that they feel better prepared to navigate roads with large trucks."

Commercial drivers receive much more extensive training than passenger vehicle drivers. This "Share the Road" event on Saturday, December 8 at Houston Community College will offer non-commercial drivers the opportunity to learn more about safe driving practices and literally see the road from another point of view - by sitting inside the cab of an 18-wheeler.

"American Trucking Associations initiated these 'Share the Road' events in 1986 as a highway safety outreach program to help educate all drivers about sharing the road safely with large trucks," said ATA EVP, Industry Affairs and Senior Adviser Elisabeth Barna. "We are pleased our 'Share the Road' professional truck drivers have the chance to work alongside Nestlé Waters North America to help generate more safety awareness on the roads in Houston."
