Aarna Networks ONAP Distribution 1.0 Addresses Service Design and Development

SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 4, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Aarna Networks, the ONAP products and services company, today announced Aarna Networks ONAP Distribution (ANOD) 1.0 -- Development. Aarna Networks brings a compact, complete and easy to use distribution of the Linux Foundation Open Network Automation Platform (ONAP) project to CSP designers and developers that can be used on a bare metal server or Google Cloud Platform. A free trial of ANOD 1.0 -- Development is available here.

"Developers want to quickly spin up ONAP and start activities such as network service design, VNF onboarding, closed loop automation design and OSS/BSS interfacing. However ONAP's large footprint and installation complexity has been a barrier," said Sriram Rupanagunta, Aarna Networks VP Engineering and co-founder. "With ANOD 1.0 -- Development, CSPs can install ONAP with ease on just one bare metal node or GCP VM and focus on design/development needs."

ANOD 1.0 capabilities provide users:

-- Compact footprint: By incorporating innovations such as CDAP-all-in-one
instead of DCAE that provides the same functionality to developers with
        a lot smaller footprint.
-- Completeness: By including OpenStack and required containers, ANOD
provides everything a developer needs. Developers can choose to use the
OPNFV OpenStack software in ANOD or bring their own. Additionally, all
working container images are included so the installation works in an
environment with limited internet access -- a policy that is commonplace
        in large organizations.
-- Ease of installation: Through automated scripts and Ansible playbooks
ANOD installation is quick and easy. ANOD also includes automated
workarounds to provide a consistent result every time.

ANOD 1.0 -- Development is based on ONAP Beijing, the 2nd release of the open source network automation software whose CSP members represent more than 70% of the world's mobile subscribers. The term "Development" indicates that this distribution is suitable for development and test activities but not production.
