GEICO Seeks Veterans for Unique IT Career Program

GEICO is seeking applicants for its Veteran IT Transition Program.

Military veterans interested in rewarding careers in information technology (IT) are encouraged to apply. The program, based at GEICO headquarters in Chevy Chase, Maryland, combines 12 months of classroom work, mentoring and real-world experience to transform vets into full-time GEICO IT analysts. Vets are paid and receive benefits during the training process.

Applicants do not need previous tech experience or a college degree. Since the Veteran IT Transition Program launched in 2015, a steady stream of alumni have found rewarding and successful careers in GEICO's award-winning IT department.

“This program has been successful because veterans are results-oriented, adaptable and self-reliant. These are among the skills critical for those seeking a career in IT,” GEICO Director of IT Talent Management Ted Robey said.

GEICO’s connection to the military dates back to its founding in 1936; back then, the company exclusively offered policies to service members and government employees. The Veteran IT Transition Program is one of the many ways GEICO is keeping that connection strong. The company also offers special discounts for active duty service members and veterans and has a department dedicated to supporting the needs of the military community.
