Ushio America, Inc. to Showcase New Laser and LED Products from Necsel, Pd-Ld, Ushio Inc. and Ushio Opto Semiconductors Brands at SPIE Photonics West 2019

CYPRESS, Calif., Jan. 31, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Ushio America Inc., a leading manufacturer of light sources, will exhibit new lighting solutions at SPIE Photonics West 2019. Located at North Hall booth 5169, their display will include products from the Necsel, Pd-Ld, Ushio Inc. and Ushio Opto Semiconductors brands.

Established in 1964, Ushio Inc. produces lamps, lasers, and LEDs in a range of ultraviolet, visible, and infrared wavelengths, as well as optical equipment and cinema-related products incorporating these light sources. They offer further product solutions within the electronics field (such as semiconductors, flat panel displays, and electronic components) and the visual imaging field (including digital projectors and lighting). Ushio has recently undertaken new business in the area of life sciences, including medical and environmental applications.

Ushio will demonstrate high-power visible lasers, including red, green, blue, and multi-wavelength modules that feature Necsel's patented technology. A new addition to their family of laser products, Necsel Yellow, produces 1W of power at 577nm from a package of less than one cubic inch. Necsel's lasers have transformed cinema projection and specialty lighting markets, as well as developed a broad application base across a variety of industries.

Ushio will also showcase Pd-Ld fiber-coupled emitters and detectors, which includes single mode and multimode fiber-coupled diode lasers. This product family is often used in communication and instrumentation applications within the OEM and end-user marketplace.

In addition, Ushio Opto Semiconductors, Inc. (UOS) is exhibiting their new high-power red laser diodes, continuous broad band spectrum LEDs, and high-power SWIR LEDs. UOS is introducing a new world's highest power 3.5W pulsed/2.4W CW multi-mode laser diode at 638nm, as well as a 300mW pulsed single mode laser diode at 685nm and a 200mW CW single mode laser diode at 660-690nm.

UOS will also debut their epitex® Spectro series, a new category of continuous broad band spectrum LEDs emitting at 400nm-1000nm. Additionally, their SWIR LED series, which is currently achieving the highest output power within 1000-1650nm, will increase its available power by 100% and include the new wavelength of 1750nm.

Ushio Inc.'s System Solution Division will exhibit devices and related products such as microlens arrays, nanoimprint molds, diffraction gratings, UV region wire grid polarizers, X-ray optical devices, and photo bonding of resin materials. Ushio provides foundry services for these devices.

President and CEO William F. Mackenzie will also be presenting at 10:20 a.m. on Feb. 3 regarding how advancements in Ushio's laser products are enabling more applications. Mackenzie says, "Over the last 10 years, Ushio has grown its solid-state solutions business through Lasers, LEDs, Modules, and Systems. Improvements in epitaxy, laser packages, and modules are supporting dramatic reductions in the cost of laser light, thereby creating new applications and markets. We truly believe in the "spectrum of possibilities" of light and look forward to seeing our lasers involved in emerging areas."
