DatabaseUSA.com, a premier database marketing company, updates their database of 14 million businesses using public sources and then verifies each business listing with telephone surveys and website research. "We subscribe to FEMA's disaster report to assure that short-term business closures due to disasters are not permanently removed from our comprehensive database of U.S. businesses. After each disaster, we wait four months and then attempt to identify which businesses are permanently closed. As of the end of 2018, there were six large counties that continued to have at least a 4% decrease in the number of business listings compared to the number of listings the month prior to the disaster", said Mark Richard, Ph.D., the company's President of DatabaseUSA.com's research division.
