Pan American Enterprises Embrace Data Center Outsourcing

STAMFORD, Conn., March 4, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Enterprises across the Americas are embracing data center outsourcing as they look for ways to improve security and availability while reducing costs, according to a new report published today by Information Services Group (ISG) (Nasdaq: III), a leading global technology research and advisory firm.

The ISG Provider Lens(TM) Infrastructure & Data Center/Private Cloud Report for Pan America finds the development of colocation facilities, the affordability of software-defined data centers and other factors have made the outsourced data center market more price competitive. In some cases, however, enterprise clients don't fully understand how to leverage and use the cloud, so they search for service providers that offer transparency and hassle-free infrastructure.

The data center managed services market is moving toward a model based on industrialized service delivery and consumption-based pricing, said Rajib Datta, partner, ISG Americas. "Industrialized services drive cost and efficiency improvements through a set of repeatable and scalable processes that can be applied across many types of clients," he added.

The service automation and industrialization available from large data center managed service providers gives clients across the Americas access to state-of-the-art technologies and scale that are difficult, if not impossible, for local service providers to deliver, the report said.

Many service providers are moving toward software-defined data centers, the report added, and clients planning new data centers or improvements should not hesitate to consider a software-defined data center.

In addition, many service providers are offering hybrid infrastructure options as enterprise clients taking an application-centric view to infrastructure operations are often distributing their application portfolios across traditional environments, on-premises private clouds, hosted private clouds, colocation facilities and public clouds.

The report also sees a trend toward self-service managed hosting options with shorter contract terms.

The ISG Provider Lens(TM) Infrastructure & Data Center/Private Cloud Report for Pan America evaluates the capabilities of 21 providers in 17 countries across two quadrants: Managed Services and Transformation and Managed Hosting.

The report names IBM as a leader in both quadrants, and Accenture, Capgemini, DXC Technology, HCL, TCS, Tech Mahindra and Wipro as leaders in the Managed Services and Transformation quadrant. The report names CenturyLink and TIVIT as leaders in the Managed Hosting quadrant.

A customized version of the report is available from Tech Mahindra.
