Texas Energy Council Announces Its 31st Annual Symposium in Dallas

The Texas Energy Council (TEC) will hold its 31st Annual Symposium, “THE CHALLENGES OF SUCCESS,” on Thursday, April 25th. The event will be held at the Hughes-Trigg Student Center on the campus at SMU, 3140 Dyer Street, Dallas. Conference registration and continental breakfast will begin at 8:30 a.m., with the program beginning at 9:00 a.m. and a luncheon at noon followed by the afternoon program. The conference will adjourn shortly after 4:00 p.m. The cost of individual registration for the symposium and luncheon is $175. Full time student discount tickets are $100. Tickets can be purchased online at www.texasenergycouncil.org. Students may register at the door. Sponsorship opportunities are also available on the TEC website.

“We are honored to hold our 31st Annual Symposium to continue our legacy in fulfilling our goal as a nonprofit by not only providing relevant and current information about our industry, but also raising money for scholarships for students studying energy-related fields and for our other educational programs,” said Ann Vandenberg, TEC President.

Following its tradition, the symposium will feature several distinguished speakers and panelists.

The symposium will open with Erika Coombs, Manager of Consulting Services, BTU Analytics, Denver, whose topic is “Market Whiplash: Price Drivers in 2019,” followed by Stephen T. McCusker, Senior Markets and Supply Consultant, ExxonMobil Gas & Power Company, Houston, who will be presenting “The Outlook for LNG.”

The morning panel, “Powering our Countries” will be an international panel moderated by Jacki Deason, The Jacki Daily Show, Dallas, and will feature Dr. Bernard (Bud) Weinstein, Assoc. Director, Maguire Energy Institute & Adj. Professor of Business, Cox School of Business, Southern Methodist Univ., Dallas; Guillermo J. Garcia Sanchez, Assoc. Professor of Law, Texas A&M School of Law, Fort Worth & Mexico City – representing the Mexican Consulate; and Hilary Foulkes, Chairman, Tudor Pickering Holt & Co., Calgary – representing the Canadian Consulate.

The featured luncheon speaker will be Mark Mathis, President, Clear Energy Alliance, Delray Beach, presenting “Energy’s False Moral Panic.”

The afternoon speakers will include Monika U. Ehrman, Assoc. Professor of Law, University of Oklahoma College of Law, Norman – “Oil and Gas Subsurface Accommodation Doctrine and Horizontal Rights”; and Jamie Cavender, Staff Facility Engineer, Corp. Facilities, Pioneer Natural Resources Company, Irving – “What Does Wrong Look Like? (Evolution of Data Use).” The conference will conclude with Daniel E. Shannon, Product Manager Produced Water, Independent Consultant, Houston – “Generating Water for Our World.”
