States Offering MetaMetrics' Lexile and Quantile Measures Now Include Missouri, South Dakota and Wisconsin

DURHAM, N.C., March 12, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Today MetaMetrics®, developer of the Lexile Framework® for Reading and the Quantile Framework® for Mathematics, announced Missouri, South Dakota and Wisconsin will join 16 other U.S. states offering Lexile® and Quantile® measures. In addition, reflecting the growing trend of states requiring the use of Lexile and Quantile measures in their assessments, the Texas Education Agency recently became the tenth state in three years to mandate reporting the measures, as reflected in its invitation for bids on its new assessment system.

The Lexile and Quantile Frameworks place both the student and instructional material on the same scale to match the learner with reading and math resources at each student's ability level. When students receive Lexile and Quantile measures from a state assessment, their test scores become more actionable, allowing teachers and parents to link assessment to instruction.

-- The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education serves
more than 917,000 students. MetaMetrics will work this school year to
link Lexile and Quantile measures to the Missouri Assessment Program
        (MAP) tests.
-- The South Dakota Department of Education serves more than 120,000 K-12
students. MetaMetrics linked Lexile and Quantile measures to the state's
        Smarter Balanced assessments.
-- The Wisconsin Department of Public Education serves nearly 875,000 K-12
students. MetaMetrics will work this school year to link Lexile and
Quantile measures to Wisconsin's Student Assessment System.

In addition, Georgia, Indiana, North Carolina and South Carolina recently renewed their contracts with MetaMetrics and their students will continue to receive the company's measures from their summative assessments. These states join a growing number from across the country that offer MetaMetrics' measures, including Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Minnesota, Nevada, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Texas, West Virginia and Wyoming.

"When states report Lexile and Quantile measures from their assessments, teachers and parents immediately have information that they can use to accelerate student growth," said Malbert Smith, CEO and co-founder of MetaMetrics. "As the number of states and education companies who offer our measures continues to grow, millions more students benefit from the power of actionable test data."
