Increase in Desalination Activities Driving the Asia-Pacific Nanoporous Membranes Market

The nanoporous membranes are currently being used in China for both industrial waste water treatment and desalination activities. China was the largest market for desalination system in 2017 accounting for 25.57% of the Asia-Pacific market. According to State Oceanic Administration (SOA), the country has around 131 sea water desalination plants which produces 66.6% of desalinated water for industrial purposes and the remainder for residential use.

In March 2018, the state government announced its plan to set up a seawater desalination plant of 100 million liter per day (mld) capacity near Jodiya town in coastal Jamnagar district, Gujarat.
