Steward St. Elizabeth's Medical Center RNs Cancel Picket for March 19

BRIGHTON, Mass., March 18, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The registered nurses of Steward St. Elizabeth's Medical Center have reached a settlement with Steward St. Elizabeth's administration that will ensure management will adhere to staffing levels previously agreed to in their union contract, which was ratified in July. As a result of the positive settlement, which was finalized on Friday, the nurses have canceled a planned information picket for Tuesday, March 19.

"We are pleased that Steward and SEMC management have responded to our concerns and have worked with us to achieve a fair settlement of this issue, and most important of all, has made a commitment to immediately improve the staffing conditions that we all believe will ensure the high standard of patient care our patients expect and deserve," said Chris Kenney, RN, a nurse at SEMC and co-chair of the nurses' local bargaining unit with the Massachusetts Nurses Association.
