Cambridge Semantics Adds OpenCypher to AnzoGraph- Cambridge Semantics is First Vendor to Offer both RDF/SPARQL and OpenCypher Graph Data Access

BOSTON, March 25, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Cambridge Semantics, the leading provider of modern data discovery and integration software for enterprise data fabrics, today announced the addition of OpenCypher to support AnzoGraph, the industry-leading OLAP (online analytical processing) graph database at the core of the Anzo platform. Data accessibility and analytics demand choices of data access, and Cambridge Semantics is the first vendor to offer both of the industry query languages for semantic graph and property graph data access.

As the graph database has emerged, the market has seen a historical split between proprietary single-vendor solutions or the RDF/SPARQL standard of the W3C. With this announcement, Cambridge Semantics now accomodates both the growing OpenCypher community in addition to the RDF/SPARQL standard. This announcement augments AnzoGraph's capability to use the SPARQL language to perform property graph analytics on very large graphs of enterprise data. Now, users and developers will be able to leverage either RDF/SPARQL standards or OpenCypher standard language for graph analytics, graph algorithms and property graph analytics.

"With the release of AnzoGraph, we have seen very strong demand by existing Cypher customers to be able to easily perform big data analytics without re-writing their evolving applications and re-training their staff to SPARQL," said Barry Zane, Vice President of Engineering, Cambridge Semantics. "Likewise, we continue to be strong proponents of the W3C-based standards process and have been at the leading edge of the RDF/SPARQL evolution. Much as computer systems support multiple programming languages, database systems must support multiple query languages concurrently on the same instances against the same data. Our decision to allow applications using either approach was a natural progression in our growth and commitment to the market. We are excited to add OpenCypher our feature list to enable a rapidly growing segment of graph developers."

AnzoGraph will support customers that have developed skill sets in OpenCypher. Many customers have chosen to use Cypher/OpenCypher for their transactional (OLTP) graph use cases. They also wish to use the same query language on their analytic (OLAP) graph use case for large-scale, high-performance analysis including discovery, aggregation, decision-support and the basis of machine learning systems.

"By standardizing query languages like OpenCypher, this will promote a more robust ecosystem of third-party developers that provide both standardized graph algorithms and complete turn-key solutions that leverage graph databases," said a distinguished engineer with one of the top 25 healthcare providers.

Preview releases of AnzoGraph with OpenCypher will be available in Q2 of 2019, with Beta and full general availability later in 2019.
