Rex Tillerson To Deliver Keynote Address At KPMG's 17th Annual Global Energy Conference

HOUSTON, April 8, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- KPMG LLP, the audit, tax and advisory firm, will host its premier energy industry event - the 17(th) Annual Global Energy Conference (GEC) on June 5-6 in Houston, Texas. Rex W. Tillerson, the Nation's 69(th) Secretary of State and former President, Chairman and CEO of Exxon will provide the keynote address on June 5. In addition, the GEC will have a host of prominent energy industry speakers and KPMG professionals participating in various breakout sessions.

This year, the GEC will focus on how to thrive in what has become a volatile and unpredictable energy environment. Speakers will discuss key topics such as: geopolitical factors shaping the global economy, the impact of trade policy and uncertainty on energy companies, blockchain's potential to solve critical issues in energy, and the future of the workforce in the digital era.

"It's not a revelation to say that energy is evolving on virtually every level - from production, distribution, price, and storage - to technology and regulation and beyond," said Regina Mayor, Global Sector Head and U.S. National Sector Leader for Energy and Natural Resources at KPMG. "As an industry, we must recognize these changes and collectively respond. The GEC will spur new thinking, provide perspective on changes and challenges, and offer invaluable networking with prominent leaders in the industry."

At the conclusion of the GEC on June 6, KPMG and the Center for Houston's Future will bring together senior energy executives, climate change experts, and other thought leaders for the Houston Low-Carbon Energy Summit. The summit is intended for industry experts to discuss how Houston's energy industry can apply its deep knowhow, technical capabilities, and unique industry footprint to create and demonstrate new business opportunities related to a lower carbon energy future. Areas to be explored will include energy storage and renewable energy, carbon sequestration and usage, methane capture, cleaner fuels, and expanded markets for natural gas. This conversation will focus on Houston's role in developing solutions to the world's future climate and energy challenges, and will send a clear message that the Houston region's energy companies are working to ensure that Houston remains the "Energy Capital of the World," as the world transitions to a low-carbon economy.
