Chordant's oneTRANSPORT Selected by UK-based Connected and Autonomous Vehicle Consortium

WILMINGTON, Del., May 20, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The oneTRANSPORT Data Marketplace has been selected by Amey Consulting and the Midlands Future Mobility (MFM) consortium to serve as the Connected and Autonomous Vehicle (CAV) Data Hub for the West Midlands facility in the UK.

MFM is a combination of services and infrastructure brought together to enable the early deployment, development and integration of CAV-based transport solutions. MFM is developing a real-world testbed environment for CAV technology, involving a range of different public road types, modes of transport, services and infrastructure. This type of a model allows for vital research and development to be conducted in real-world situations that could not effectively be achieved through simulation alone.

Amey Consulting, a key consulting partner in MFM, will operate a real-time mobility Data Hub to consolidate, store and distribute multiple intelligent transport datasets, to support MFM services. This data hub model facilitates a deep understanding of the road network and its operation and use, providing vital information for vehicle manufacturers as well as technology and service providers, as they develop and validate new CAV-related services.

Chordant's oneTRANSPORT Data Marketplace was selected as the basis for the mobility Data Hub, as an already proven solution for bringing together, curating and sharing different, disparate real-time and reference data from existing and new transport systems.

"We are focused on helping organizations to unlock the value of smart city and transport data" said Mika Rasinkangas, president of Chordant. "We are delighted that Amey Consulting and MFM chose our oneTRANSPORT Data Marketplace for managing CAV-related data, enabling them to accelerate the UK's position as a global leader in the emerging Connected and Autonomous Vehicle sector."

"Chordant makes it easy for organizations like MFM to gather maximum value from real-time and reference data sets across the smart city ecosystem," said Paul Rose, Technical Director of Amey Consulting. "We're pleased to bring them in to this ecosystem not only because of their technology, but also because of their experience and insight working in a range of transport and smart city projects."

The oneTRANSPORT Data Marketplace is a modern, neutral smart city data solution that enables Smart City data to be fully exploited across multiple applications and services, by both public and private organizations.
