Jeenie Launches New Languages, Opening More Doors for Travelers

WASHINGTON, May 21, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- In its most substantial expansion yet since the release of its mobile platform, Jeenie(TM), the App for human-powered culture and language translation at the tap of a button, has launched five new languages. Italian, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish have now been added to the existing offerings of Mandarin, Cantonese, and Japanese, to increase the App's reach to new audiences of travelers and language speakers. Jeenie, available in iOS and Android in app stores everywhere, is now available for on-demand, live language help and cultural advice in some of the most widely spoken languages in the world, opening doors for ever greater numbers of travelers to experience new destinations, regardless of language barriers.

Through its peer-to-peer marketplace model, the Jeenie Mobile App connects bilingual, bicultural experts to people in need of language help, for interpreting/translating or language practice, as well as cultural assistance for situations like negotiating prices, experiencing authentic dining, or doing business in a different culture in the most appropriate manner. In as little as 10 seconds, travelers are connected via video-chat or audio to a live person for instant help, right on the screen of their smartphone.

"With every new language we launch, we expand our ability to help people communicate and understand each other, overcoming language and culture barriers," states Jeenie CEO and Co-Founder, Kirsten Brecht Baker. "Without those barriers, travel is not only more accessible, it's more authentic and more personal."

Beyond attracting a global consumer base, Jeenie is fast becoming a valuable partner to international businesses and organizations. In June, Jeenie will debut at IPW 2019 as the premier North American travel conference's first Official Language Assistance App, assisting US destinations in their meetings with tour operators and agents from around the world. In conjunction with the launch of Portuguese on the platform, Jeenie is also partnering with the Embassy of Brazil in Washington DC to support the recently established visa-free travel program that allows visitors from the United States, Canada, Japan, and Australia to enter Brazil without a visa starting on June 17 of this year.

"Along with the visa waiver, other travel developments are also making travel to Brazil easier. For instance, translation apps such as Jeenie, help remove language barriers by giving travelers immediate access to live language and cultural help on their smartphones," said Secretary Lucas Frota, Head of the Trade and Investment Office at the Embassy of Brazil in Washington.

The visa waiver is expected to drive a dramatic increase in the number of tourists arriving in Brazil, which Jeenie will support with an elastic supply of on-demand Portuguese bilingual speakers standing by to help international tourists. Jeenie will also support Embassy events and visiting delegations to enhance their visit to the United States.

Jeenie is also partnering with language teaching organizations, such as District Spanish in Washington DC in conjunction with the launch of Spanish, in order to provide supplemental conversation practice for students outside the classroom.

"In our globalized world, organizations with international operations need smart, efficient and cost-effective solutions to everyday language and culture problems," says Brecht Baker. "Jeenie looks forward to assisting its new partners with high-quality language and culture assistance."

Drawing on a potential linguist base of the 4+ billion people in the world who speak more than one language, Jeenie is a gig economy model like Uber and Airbnb that seeks to help individuals around the world supplement their income while helping others. The next language to be rolled out will be Korean, scheduled for the end of May.
