American Water & American Water Charitable Foundation Donate $50,000 to Camden County Police Foundation

American Water (NYSE: AWK), the largest publicly traded U.S. water and wastewater utility company, and the American Water Charitable Foundation (AWCF), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created by American Water, announced today that they have donated $50,000 to the Camden County Police Foundation (CCPF). The CCPF seeks to advance the mission of the Camden County Police Department by developing positive relationships with the community and funding police specific projects and initiatives that directly impact public and officer safety.

“The men and women of the Camden County Police Department continue to make our community safe, vibrant, and welcoming. Residents, students, and businesses know Camden is a great place to live, work and play because of what our courageous and caring police officers do every day,” said Susan Story, president & CEO of American Water. “To help them continue to do vitally critical work in our community and take care of their colleagues in need, American Water and the American Water Foundation have teamed up to donate $50,000 to the Camden County Police Foundation.”

Over the past six years (2012 - 2018), the crime rate in Camden has been reduced by 59%, while K-12 graduation rates have increased by 40%, with a 69% graduation rate. Unemployment in the city has also declined from 17.8% to 9.7%.

“The generosity of American Water, the American Water Charitable Foundation, and their commitment to our agency is unparalleled and we are deeply grateful for the donations they are making to the Camden County Police Foundation,” said Chief Scott Thomson, Camden County Police Department. “The donations will be put toward building better police officers through advanced training and ultimately making the city a better place to work and live.”
