HSL, BHEL And Midhani join hands for indigenous Submarine project

Indigenous construction of 06 Conventional Submarines under Project 75(I) is envisaged by Ministry of Defence under the Strategic Partnership Model.

Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL),  Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and  Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited (Midhani) in a strategic move have come together to form a consortium for building submarines.  The agreement between the three companies is a step to fulfill 'Make In India' initiative of the government in Defence sector. The agreement aims to harness the complimentary expertise of the three companies and provide the country with a credible domestic alternative for construction of submarines.

The consortium will jointly stake claim with the Ministry of Defence for being considered as a prospective bidder for the proposed P-75 (I) project of the Navy in partnership with OEM (foreign technology provider) for building six submarines at M/s Hindustan Shipyard Limited, Visakhapatnam.
