Californian Business and Labor Leaders Honor Environmental Entrepreneurs with the 2019 Pat Brown Award

The California Council for Environmental and Economic Balance (CCEEB) is pleased to announce E2 (Environmental Entrepreneurs) as this year’s Edmund G. “Pat” Brown Award recipient.

CCEEB recognizes E2 for its ability to bring together business leaders, investors and professionals from every sector of the economy to advocate for smart policies that are good for the economy and good for the environment.

Upon learning of this honor, E2 Co-Founder Nicole Lederer said, “It's an honor to be recognized by an organization that stands for what E2 seeks to embody – that working across industry sectors and across the aisle can be the best way for America to achieve landmark victories that benefit both the environment and the economy.” Lederer will receive the Pat Brown Award on behalf of E2 at CCEEB’s annual dinner on July 23, 2019.

With over 5,000 members and supporters nationwide, E2 brings the voice of business to decision and policy makers. Before expanding nationwide, E2 established itself in California and quickly became a leader in the state where it has successfully advanced policies for clean air, water and a stable climate, while ensuring the necessary investment and job creation for economic growth.

“E2 has been a critical voice for ground breaking policies in California,” explains CCEEB President Bill Quinn. “They’re able to garner business support by advancing positions based on facts and evidence. E2’s analysis on jobs and clean technologies is sound, and they speak with a credibility few have. This is essential when trying to move policies over the finish line.”

Their Clean Jobs America report showcases the analytical approach they take to ensure that climate and clean energy policies yield economic benefits and job growth. The report amplifies the message that in every region and in every state in America, clean energy is creating jobs and careers. In California, it found the state leads the nation in clean energy jobs, employing more than half a million in 2018.

“The leadership of E2 here in California and across the nation embodies the reality that we cannot divide environmental and economic issues,” says Walter McGuire, CCEEB Chairman. “From advocacy to research to fostering the next generation of business leaders, E2 is working to advance economic growth while using fewer natural resources and protecting the environment.”
