The HomeServe Cares Foundation Announces Second Round of Caring For Community Grant Program

The HomeServe Cares Foundation is now accepting applications for the second round of its “Caring for Community” grant program, a key pillar of the Foundation launched earlier this year by HomeServe, a leading provider of home repair and installation solutions. The grants, available to municipalities and non-profits, are meant to help jump-start a project that will benefit residents or infuse needed funds into existing programs. Applications are due by Wednesday, August 28, 2019 and four grants are available for awards up to $10,000 each.

In June, the two winners of the first round of grants were announced. One winner, Rochester, New York-based The Arc of Monroe County, will use the grant to enhance and improve the conditions for residents in The Arc’s residential facilities with a focus on remodeling an aging bathroom to make it more accessible. The other winner, the City of Tampa, Florida’s Parks & Recreation Department, received a grant to fund the installation of ADA-compliant beach mats in order to provide access for mobility challenged locals and visitors.

According to Homeward Bound, the recent housing report published by the National League of Cities, there are an estimated 50.8 million people aged 65 and older in the U.S., prompting a need to address the issue of home repairs and modifications so that residents can age in place safely. With this in mind, Caring for Community awards will be granted to projects that specifically focus on home repair programs that benefit low-income seniors and veterans. Applications will be assessed based on impact, execution and innovation, with awards announced on or before Wednesday, September 18, 2019. All projects must be completed by February 28, 2020. Application and details about the program are available at www.homeservecommunity.com.

“We were really impressed by the quality of the applications we received from our first grant solicitation and were pleased to be able support two such worthwhile projects in Rochester and Tampa,” said HomeServe CEO John Kitzie. “At HomeServe, people are at the heart of everything we do. The launch of the HomeServe Cares Foundation puts us in an even better position to support communities, one home at a time.”

As the only service line warranty program provider endorsed by the National League of Cities, the Caring for Community grant program under the HomeServe Cares Foundation is another way that the company can help strengthen NLC member communities. HomeServe has a long legacy of giving back to communities and helping homeowners in need. The launch of the HomeServe Cares Foundation brings together the company’s existing Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, as well as many new ones, to make an even greater impact.
