Pennsylvania American Water Awards $25,000 in Grants to Local Fire Departments

Pennsylvania American Water announced today that 51 fire departments across the Commonwealth received grants totaling $25,000 through its annual Firefighting Support Grant Program. The company awards the grants to support local fire departments and emergency services in purchasing protective gear, lifesaving equipment, firefighting apparatus and training materials. Today’s announcement coincides with National Fire Safety Month.

“We are proud to once again award fire departments across the state with grants that will upgrade equipment and improve safety operations,” said Mike Doran, President of Pennsylvania American Water. “This program is another way we can show appreciation for those who serve in our local fire departments and protect the communities where our customers and employees live and work.”

Pennsylvania American Water awarded grants ranging from $250 to a maximum of $1,000 to the following fire departments:

A panel of Pennsylvania American Water employees, including current and former fire chiefs and firefighters, reviewed more than 100 applications that were submitted. Since launching the grant program in 2009, Pennsylvania American Water has donated more than $500,000 to help more than 650 fire departments and emergency service organizations across the Commonwealth.
